Most of them can only produce low-end chips in large quantities, and only a few manufacturers can produce medium and high-end optical chips, but the production capacity is limited and the market accounts for less than 1%. Highly dependent on imports, including 400g and 800g optical modules are core technologies based on high-end optical chips.

According to the development roadmap of China's optical device industry (2018-2022), optical chips with a speed of 25gbps and above are highly dependent on imports, and the localization rate is only 3%. The first-line manufacturers in Europe, America and Japan have quite high-tech optical chip manufacturing capacity. The industrialization and mass production of single tube 50Gbps high-end optical chips belong to China's domestic blank at present.
