    "Generally speaking, at present, photonic chips can replace electronic chips only in the field of individual computing and transmission." Dr. Zheng Junxiong said that in terms of manufacturing process, although the two are similar in process and complexity, the structural requirements of photonic chip are not as strict as electronic chip, which is generally 100 nm, "which greatly reduces the dependence on advanced technology and alleviates the bottleneck of current chip development to a certain extent".

    "Light has the advantage of light, and electricity has the advantage of electricity." Dr. Zheng Junxiong said that in some application scenarios, there is competition between the two, but more often, the two are win-win relations.

    "At present, silicon optical chip technology is not as mature as electronic chip, so there are many unknown factors, and the two should be well connected in the future." Dr. Zheng Junxiong believes that there is a complementary relationship between electronic integrated circuits and photonic integrated circuits. "In the future, we can make full use of the advantages of high-speed transmission of photonic integrated circuits and multifunctional and intelligent electronic integrated circuits to achieve better results in the new 'track'."
